Dear Peggy - you do not need to explain anything. God Himself knows what the worst kinds of suffering and sorrow are, and He understands you completely. On April 3d, just remember that God Himself will wipe every tear away. There will come a day when you will not know suffering or sorrow. But all of your suffering and sorrow will become happiness and joy. Through fortified faith, I can promise you this. Peace to you.

Hello Peggy. My family and I only recently discovered your blog site, and I want to commend you on the well written posts, which are truly inspiring, not only to me, but also to my father, who lives in Orlean and is fighting his own battle with ALS. He too struggles with his loss of independence, and for several weeks now, has been unable to lift his hand to feed himself. Your blog reminded him that he is not the only one battling this disease, and your positive attitude boosted his spirit. I’ve subscribed him to your site, and he is looking forward to reading your next post. And we are all keeping you in our prayers, especially in view of your recent loss. We send you our condolences and our best wishes.

Dearest Peggy, I know you are a strong person. This disease makes us even stronger. I am sure that Bernie is praying for you and waiting for the time you will cross the bridge into Bernie;s open arms and there will be a joyous reunion. We are known in the Heavenly realms and we will not be given any trial we can not face and face it well. I admire your courage and your desire and determination to do all you can. You are in my prayers. Much love, Rita

Today I sit so many miles away from Warrenton with so many thoughts to share with you as we celebrate Bernies's life. I am so sorry for your loss and pray you feel the strengths of so many to support you in this time of grief. You and Bernie are and have been a Blessing of lights in to often a shallow world of hurts and coldness. Your lives both as Christ's servants and example of marriage faithfulness is a light for so many to aspire too. My graditude to you both will never to adequate enough for the gift you have been to my life and the example to my daughters. I and my family have been blessed to be even a small part of that shadow of goodness that Bernie and you have lived. I am so very grateful for the example of sustained and meaningful Faith and goodness to my daughters. The role you both played in guiding Jen and Sean in prepartation of marriage was answered prayer and it's fruits are and will bear for another generation ,no doubt.
. Bernies' Faith and faithfullness sustained a very broken family and demonstrated Godliness beyond words a but sustained and meaningful actions. Few will ever know the depth of his role in so much of what we faced but I know I would never have survived those days or the many days that followed with his prescense and direction of forgiveness he reflectged as God's will for us all. Faith in action, Goodness personified. What a legacy! Years later, again broken and in pain he agains came along side of me at jen's Wedding and got me through that day as well. To this day , He remains the only person in this nightmare who simply asked me how I was doing and gently reminded me of God's love for me and HIS faithfullness for me in all of this. The darkness and depth of discomfort of the situation was and is so uncomfortable for most except Bernie..His heart and faith in God's goodness demonstrated what we all look forward too.God's heavenly peace and Fatherly protection. Thank you for sharing him so often and so unselfishly with so many of us. I pray you are comforted by Bernies devotion and sustained love and feel his presence along side you as you reflect on the memories of a lifetime of shared moments and Blessings. May they light your path.
Sitting her so many thousands a miles away from you today;I can only imagine the multiples Bernie served in so many ways like me and my family so often unknown,.unspoken or even adequately acknowledged . I so wish I had done a better job of sharing just how much you both sustained what little faith I had at that time. At Jennifer's Wedding he came once again to stand along side of this broken child of God and sustained that Faith and loving Concern he lived as God's servant leader. .I so wish I could be along side of you today and simply stand among many who's faith and hope he sustained and comfort you in these difficult days. Please know you are in my prayers and these times of grief will be shortened by the memories of the life and faith you shared here on the Earth and the eternity you will share again along side of each other. Our God simply directs us to...." BE still and know I AM...." Bernie rests in that peace now and as difficult as this news is too comprehend ..the comfort of simply knowing the greatest of His Journey here for the too brief and shinning moments of his servanthood was truely a Blessing ; a reflection of God's Love for us all.
Love ,Pat
Pat O'Brien RN MSN APRN-BC Family Nurse Practitioner
pqob@hotmail.com
