The following list presents only a small selection of the many ALS-related organizations currently fighting to find a cure for ALS and support those whose lives have been impacted by the disease. We will continue to update this list on an ongoing basis.
The ALS Association
The only not-for-profit voluntary health agency dedicated solely to the fight against ALS. Directs the largest privately-funded research enterprise engaged to uncover the mystery of a disease that affects as many as 30,000 annually.
The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter
The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter was founded in 1991 by a group of dedicated volunteers to respond to the critical needs of people with ALS, and to give support to the family and friends who care for ALS patients. It is the primary resource for patient services in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.
International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations
Founded in November 1992 to provide a forum for support and the exchange of information betweenworldwide associations related to ALS / MND. More than 50 national patient support and advocacy groups from over 40 countries worldwide have joined together to form the International Alliance.
Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins
The Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins enables the world’s best ALS scientists to collaborate and access funding so that they may continue work to rapidly develop new treatments and find a cure for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The hope is in the science.
The Eleanor and Lou Gehrig MDA/ALS Center
The Eleanor and Lou Gehrig MDA/ALS Multidisciplinary Care Center at Columbia University sees approximately 300 new patients annually from the United States and abroad, each of whom presents a special set of needs.
The ALS C.A.R.E. Program
ALS C.A.R.E. is a voluntary, physician-directed program to improve outcomes for patients diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Compassionate Care ALS
A nonprofit organization, somewhat similar in nature to our Project, that offers individualized support to ALS patients, families, and caregivers.
